By six to twelve months babies start exploring their surroundings and the objects around them. They like toys that they can open, close, twist, poke, shake, push, pull and drag. And before you know it, they're toddlers. Toddlers are little packages of major energy. They are at the peak of their curiosity at this age. It may look like they're playing to you, but they are actually learning about their environment, forming associations, and learning how things work. They are also setting new motor skill milestones; from stacking blocks to opening doors, throwing a ball to running and jumping. At this stage, they'll take interest in toys that imitate adult activities like mowing the lawn, shopping, cooking or sweeping the floor. In addition, shape sorters, peg boards, nesting toys and simple puzzles will improve their analytical and motor skills. |
