5 out of 5 stars One of my daughter's favorites!   November 10, 2004

My daughter received this as a gift for her birthday when she turned 1 year old. I thought it was a little strange at first and I wasn't quite sure if my little girl would like it, but boy did she prove me wrong! She LOVES this toy!!! When she first played with it, it took her a very short amount time to get the hang of it and quickly learned where the buttons are that make the music go... now she even presses the little buttons that change the modes on her own! Other reviewers complain about how small the button area is... my daughter doesn't have a problem with it and neither do I. It teaches your baby to be persistent and keep trying and once they "get it", it's second-nature, like riding a bike. I don't agree with the age range for this toy- I think it is much too advanced for a 3 month old- I would recommend this toy for age ranges beginning at 6 or 9 months, depending on the baby. This toy doesn't just teach numbers and counting, it also has several different modes which include colors and two different music modes. I would recommend this toy to anyone!

I bought this for my son about a month ago when he was 3 months old. He instantly started grabbing for it and like to feel the material. The counting and color songs are so cute, I sometimes find myself humming them through out the day. Yes, the buttons are a little hard at first, however, they seem to loosen up the more he plays with it. I have not been disappointed with any of the Leapfrog products. Great job.

5 out of 5 stars What a Fun and Wonderful Toy.   September 10, 2004

I bought this toy for my 5 month old daughter--and she and I love it.

It has 4 musical modes-the first is numbers -it teaches through unique songs relating to numbers 1 through 5.

The second mode teaches colors while also introducing different music styles (ex:Press blue and the song snippet about blue is sung in Opera etc.)

The third mode plays classical musical tunes by different composers such as Mozart-It introduces the composer and then plays a piece of their music.

The fourth mode is a continuous musical medley-It plays the classical music.

Note:My daughter is not able to push the buttons yet by herself-it is something that we can both play with together which is fine with me. It also has two velcro hooks on the back so that we take it with us.--Really cute toy.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent value toy   December 3, 2005

This was my daughter's favorite toy from 3months until 9 months old. Now at 12 months she doesn't play with it as much but it still brings a smile to her face. I love the variety of songs, 16 total. For the price, you don't find many toys with this many tunes. The songs for the color and numbers are original too. Many toys play the same old songs (wheels of the bus, abc..) The musical medley is the best because it's long enough so you get something quickly done (make a bottle, run to the bathroom, change a diaper). I loved how portable it was. I could strap it to the handle of her carseat, the arches of her playmat and the side of her crib. It is soft, colorful and great for any infant.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money!   November 29, 2005

This is by far my 6 mo. olds favorite toy. The songs could easily get stuck in your head and possibly send you into a fit of rage, but personally I kind of like them. In fact, when my son wakes up cranky or starts crying I begin to sing him one of the songs, "Hello bluebird, sing along, sing your blue opera song..." and it never fails to cheer him up instantly. Just resently during a four hour car ride my son started to cry with about 40 minutes left in our trip. I would just go through all the catepillars songs and he would get quite and then the minute I stopped he would start whailing again. I also use the musical medleys in the mornings when I am getting ready. The music plays long enough for to bend down periodically and hit the button again and my son just enjoys playing with the catepillar in his hands. We have had this toy for three months now and eventhough he still cannot press the buttons he still enjoys playing with it on his own and with us. For (...)this crazy catepillar has bought me hours of mental health time!!!! Also, we are still using the same batteries ofter using this multiple times a day for the last three months.
